Belgian motorbike market made 4.6 percent more sales y/y in August

The Belgian motor market has seen an increase of 4.6 percent over last August. In total, 2266 new motorcycles were sold in the last month, almost 100 more than in August 2021. With these positive figures, the Belgian motorcycle market breaks with the trend of declining sales in recent months. Nevertheless, last month can not ensure that the sales figures of 2022 so far come in the plus. In 2022, the Belgian motorcycle market will still see a decline of more than five percent.

Sales figures August 2022

As in the Dutch motorcycle market, BMW is also doing good business in Belgium. The German brand sold 285 motorcycles in August, almost 28 percent more than in August 2021. With a market share of over twelve percent, BMW remains narrowly ahead of Honda, which managed to sell 270 motorcycles. This equates to a market share of just under twelve percent. However, Honda delivered a good seven percent compared to August 2021. The top three is complete with Piaggio. The Italians have a ten percent market share, which amounts to 230 sales. Piaggio does not often take a top three listing, which is also shown by the significant increase of 28.5 percent compared to August 2021.
Within the top ten, Kymco is also doing good business, with an increase of 102%!) percent. Despite this significant increase, the number of sales remains at a modest 95 units.
