Amusement park fans can indulge themselves: Legoland is coming to Belgium. The rumours had been going around for some time, but now an agreement has actually been signed.
Belgian media write that a non-binding letter of intent has been signed by the owner of Legoland, Wallonia and the government.
In addition to Legoland in Denmark, England and Germany, there will be a fourth amusement park in Europe, but a little closer to the Netherlands. According to the plans, the park will be located on the former site of the Caterpillar excavator factory in Gosselies, near Charleroi.
Legoland Belgium must open its doors in 2027. The investment in the park amounts to a sloppy 400 million euros; more than 1000 jobs will be created.
If the costs become too high, the plans can still be canceled. Before the end of the year, the final decision has to be made whether Legoland will be there or not.
