Lidl has started lowering the prices of 250 products this week. These are private label products whose raw material prices have been reduced. It is the first retailer in Belgium to indicate that it is reducing its prices for that reason.
Hendrik Van Wilderode, director of marketing and purchasing Lidl Belgium and Luxembourg: “we see that high inflation and rising food prices led to strong growth in sales of our private labels. The highest quality for the lowest price is in our DNA and house brands are our strength. Therefore, we reduce our prices of our fixed range as soon as possible to always fulfil this promise. Never before have so many price comparisons been carried out in recent years, and each time the conclusion is: private labels are up to 60% cheaper. With this permanent price reduction, we are once again reinforcing this.”
