The liberal parties Open VLD and MR will soon visit preformers Bart De Wever (N-VA) and Paul Magnette (PS) to discuss the formation of a new federal government. The preformers also plan to continue negotiations with the Greens.
Before the formation of a new federal government, De Wever and Magnette already have a “bubble” of five parties: N-VA, PS, SP.A, CD&V and CDH. But then they are still 6 seats short to have a majority in the House. Who will supply those seats: the blues or the greens?
This afternoon, the preformers De Wever and Magnette receive the liberal chairmen Egbert Lachaert (Open VLD) and Georges-Louis Bouchez (MR). They will talk about liberal adjustments to the starting note of N-VA chairman De Wever and his PS colleague Magnette. The two blue parties have joined together.
The two preformers also plan to continue negotiations with the Greens. Earlier this week, Groen and Ecolo had been talking to the preformers for hours. “It was a respectful and constructive conversation, but there are still a number of important gaps and ambiguities”, the Greens said afterwards.
Tomorrow the two preformers will report to the king on the state of government formation.
