The Belgian-born Congolese international footballer Théo Bongonda has decided to continue his career in Russia and has signed a new deal with Spartak Moscow, the club from the Russian capital announced on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old winger, who also played for the Belgian international youth team, leaves Spanish club Cadiz after just one season, where he was transferred from Racing Genk last August. He did not really shine in La Liga, ending his season with 4 goals and 3 assists in 32 appearances. Cadiz nevertheless enjoyed a quiet season, finishing 14th out of 20.
After starting out at Zulte Waregem, Bongonda moved to Spain and Celta Vigo in January 2015 before joining Trabzonspor in Turkey on loan from July 2017 to January 2018. He spent another six months on loan at Zulte Waregem, who transferred him in July 2018 before selling him a year later to Genk.
