US pushes ASML off the cliff to keep China from getting chips

The US government wants ASML to no longer supply chip machines that are widely used to China. Now that ban only applies to the latest generation of chip machines.

Last month, US Under Secretary of Commerce Don Graves visited the Netherlands and Belgium, where he put this item on the agenda and also met ASML CEO Peter Wennink.

The Netherlands has not yet made any commitments because this could seriously damage its trade position with China.
